Announcements Regarding 2012 Special Activities

1 November 2011

ALCON,

Within the next few weeks National HQ will publish the information for the 2012 National Cadet Special Activities.

Cadets, for the NCSA's you will be required to do the following:

First, electronically submit your application to NHQ on-line through eServices. (When you have completed, reviewed and printed your CAP form 31, it will automatically be transmitted to NHQ electronically)

Second, sign the Release Agreement and have your parent or guardian (if applicable) sign the Release by Parent or Guardian block (page 4 of the application).

New Third, Activity Directors will contact the members who are slotted for an NCSA. Mail the signed Release Agreement/Release by Parent or Guardian to the activity director at the address provided. If you are slotted to attend more than one activity, you will need to send a copy of the release to each event.

In addition to the online sets for National, you are required to send the following information to Wing HQ/CP to be postmarked NO LATER than 16 January 2012:

1. Copy of your printed and signed form 31

2. NJ Wing Cadet Annual Performance Evaluation (CAPE) Form

3. Photo (Full body shot) in Blues

Commanders,

For the Cadet of the Year submissions:

Squadrons can nominate one COY in each phase.

All cadets nominated for Cadet of the Year will need the following packet submitted to Wing HQ by 16 January 2012:

1. CAPF 58 - Nomination for Cadet of the Year (list achievements/activities done in entire CAP career) 2. NJ CAPE Form (list activities/achievement done in 2011 only) 3. Transcripts of school and/or college credits 4. SAT and ACT exam scores (if available) 5. Photo - full length (head to toe), in blues uniform without hat 6. Three letters of recommendation

All paperwork for both the NCSA applications and COY nominations must be sent to Wing HQ by 16 January 2012.

The tentative date for the NCSA and COY board is 21 January 2012.

Attention Officers of New Jersey Wing.

Each year, an officer staff is chosen to vanguard the NJ Wing Basic Encampment- an activity that hosts over 100 basic cadets and a team of over 50 cadet staff members.

By taking on the responsibilities of one of the officer mentor positions or by serving as a TAC officer, you are given the opportunity to lead through example, mentor cadet staff, and push the basic encampment to the next level! If you're interested, keep reading...

Recently, the encampment team published information regarding the initial process for senior staffing. This email reiterates those instructions. Remember, applications are due in just under 2 weeks.

Applications are due NLT 2359L on 12 November 2011. Officers need to email their completed applications to encampment@njwg.cap.gov.

Applications consist of:

- A single-page, double-spaced letter stating how you can serve at this year's encampment and what qualifies you to hold a position on the staff.

- A single page resume listing both CAP and relevant outside activities

Officers on the encampment staff are expected to attend monthly staff training weekends beginning in January 2012. The weekends are used to train and plan for the encampment in the summer.

Attention Cadets of New Jersey Wing,

Each year, 4 cadets are chosen to lead the NJ Wing Basic Encampment- an activity that hosts over 100 basic cadets and by a team of over 50 cadet staff members.

By taking on the responsibilities of one of the cadet executive staff members, you are given the opportunity to lead your peers and take the cadet program to the next level! If you're interested, keep reading...

BE 12 Cadet Executive Staff applications must be submitted by 12 November 2011! For those who apply, YOUR review board will be 26 November, the Saturday following Thanksgiving.

Recently, the encampment team published information regarding the initial process for cadet command staff applications. This email reiterates those instructions and offers more information on the review board and selection process. Remember, applications are due in less than 2 weeks.

At this time, we are looking for cadets to serve in the following positions:

- Cadet Commander

- Cadet Deputy Commander

- Cadet Deputy Commander for RCLS

- Cadet Executive Officer

Any cadet officer, having earned the Mitchell Award, may apply for all or some of the positions. Phase IV cadets are strongly encouraged to apply. Also, regardless of your prospective plans for next summer, you are still encouraged to apply.

Applications will consist of:

- A motivation statement, one page, double-spaced, stating why you want to serve at the encampment and what qualifies you for the position(s).

- One page resume

- One letter of recommendation from any person who would support you in the position(s) that you are applying for.

Cadets need to email their completed applications to encampment@njwg.cap.gov by 2359 hrs 12 November 2011.

Review boards will be held at New Jersey Wing Headquarters McGuire AFB NJ on Saturday, 28 November 2009 at 0900 hrs with review boards beginning at 0930 hrs. Lunch will be provided.

Review boards will consist of a formalized review board, covering topics found in Leadership for the 21st Century on material learned after the Mitchell Award, basic aerospace concepts, and questions related to responsibilities of the cadet command staff of an encampment.

Following review boards, lunch will be served and various topics relating to the upcoming encampment will be discussed. The lunch will also act as a way begin building strong relationships between encampment staff members.
